I-Chun Pan is Associate Professor in the Department of Horticulture at National Chung Hsing University in Taichung, Taiwan, where she has taught since 2014. She holds a PhD from the Institute of Biotechnology, National Cheng Kung University, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in horticulture from National Chung Hsing University. Before joining the faculty she was a postdoctoral associate at the Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology, Academia Sinica.

Her research spans molecular plant biology and applied horticulture. She has worked extensively on how plants sense and respond to iron deficiency, including the post-transcriptional control of that response and the way iron status intersects with light stress, immunity and photosynthesis. Her current programme centres on precision breeding and genome editing in horticultural crops, alongside work on sweet pepper breeding, postharvest handling and chilling injury in vegetables.

I-Chun Pan represents the Taiwan Society of Plant Biologists on the GPC board.
