Resources for refugees of the Ukrainian war

The global science and plant science communities are putting together initiatives to help displaced students and researchers from the Ukrainian war (Last updated: 25th April 2022)

• A group of scientists is putting together a list of labs across the globe welcoming Ukrainian students and researchers

• Complete information by the EU Commision for people fleeing the war in Ukraine.

• ERA4Ukraine: existing actions at European and national levels to support researchers of Ukraine.

• #ScienceForUkraine is a community group of volunteer students and research scientists from academic institutions in Europe and around the world. On this website you will find a wide range of paid academic positions for scientists (PhD student or above), academic transfer opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, as well as temporary housing.

•  The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) has prepared a solidarity list of labs welcoming displaced Ukrainians.

• Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf  (HHU) offers assistance, information and support services for those affected by the Ukraine war

• The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is extending the Philipp Schwartz-Initiative Extension deadline to Nominations of Ukrainian scholars at acute risk until 18th March 2022

• The PlantEd project offers financial means to support mobility through their STSMs

• The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) supports Ukrainian researchers with the SSF individual grants for Ukrainian scientists 2022

• The Charles University of Prague has prepared a website with a whole program of resources for both students and researchers impacted by the Ukrainian war

•  The Czech Academy of Sciences will offer support grants for multiple research fields for two years (official info soon)

•  The Institute of Experimental Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences offers support program for those plant research oriented

• Scientists affected by the war in Ukraine can be included in ongoing FWF research projects in Austria.

• UC Louvain (Belgium) has opened up its Access2University to refugees from Ukraine

• Ukrainian researchers are eligible to benefit from the #Science4Refugees EURAXESS initiative without the need of holding refugee status.
