Biochemist with a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, currently an Assistant Professor and researcher at the Plant Biotechnology Center of Universidad Nacional Andrés Bello in Santiago, Chile. He is also the Vice President of the Chilean Society of Plant Biologists.
His research has focused on understanding the stress defense responses against both biotic and abiotic stresses mediated by the hormone salicylic acid in Arabidopsis thaliana. Additionally, he has collaborated on research topics related to epigenetics and development, and more recently, he has developed a research line uncovering the relationship of plants with modern stressors such as micro and nanoplastic contamination, exploring the physiological effects of this type of contamination.
