SUMMARY:EUCARPIA Leafy Vegetables Conference
DESCRIPTION:Visit Event Website \nOn behalf of The European Association for Research on Plant Breeding (EUCARPIA) and the Association of Applied Biologists we invite you to ‘Save the Date’ for the 2027 EUCARPIA Leafy Vegetables Conference. \nThis follows from the successful 2023 event in Utrecht and will be hosted at the University of Warwick in the UK between July 12th-15th 2027. \nThis 11th EUCARPIA Leafy Vegetables  International conference will include plenary talks\, poster sessions and delegate visits to the University of Warwick plant breeding facilities and to local growers. \nThis event provides a platform for scientists\, practical plant breeders\, and professionals to engage in thought-provoking discussions. You will have the opportunity to explore the latest research and developments in leafy vegetable quality\, covering topics including but not limited to genetic resources\, breeding\, production\, and post-harvest handling. \nRegistration and Abstract Submission will open in January 2027

SUMMARY:Long Term Experiments 2027: Lessons Learnt and Future Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:VISIT EVENT WEBSITE\nWe invite you to ‘Save the Date’ for\n‘Long Term Experiments 2027: Lessons Learnt and Future Sustainability’.\nThis conference takes place in South Africa at Stellenbosch University and will include a day-visit to the Langgewens Research Farm. \nLong-term experiments (LTEs) are valuable resources to assess the sustainability  and resilience of agricultural practices and systems. \nIt is important to host this event in the Global South so as to provide more opportunities for local delegates to attend a high-profile international conference and also to highlight the crucial need for more LTEs in the Global South. \nThis conference will focus on using LTEs to meet current and future challenges in agriculture. We will explore how LTEs are advancing agronomy\, agroecology\, soil science\, crop science modelling and statistics to underpin farming systems that support nutritious diets while safeguarding our environment. \nA key conference focus will be to discuss how LTE datasets can be used to impact future farming practices. We will explore how LTEs can be redesigned so that they remain relevant in a changing climate. \nThe conference includes two days of oral presentations\,  posters and entertainment at Stellenbosch University. On the third day delegates will travel to the Langgewens Research Farm  for talks from local experts and research site tours. \nThis is the third LTE conference organised by the Association of Applied Biologists\, following successful events at Rothamsted Research in 2023 and Newcastle in 2018. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nConference Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe majority of speakers will be selected from submitted abstracts\, which represents a fantastic opportunity for early career researchers to present their work at an international conference. \nAbstract submission will open in late 2026. \nThe Scientific Organising Committee will announce invited Keynote speakers later in 2026. \nDraft List of Conference Topics: \n– Sustainability and redesign of LTEs \n– Soil health across LTEs \n– Facilitating farmer community engagements with LTEs \n– LTEs as a tool for modelling agricultural systems under global climate change \n– Maximising diverse outputs and societal value of LTEs \n– Methods for integrating LTEs with Living Labs \n– Enabling student participation and public engagement with LTEs \n– LTEs as a gold standard to develop new tools for data analysis\, data reuse and data curation \n– Lessons learnt from the global network of LTEs \n– Examine the role of LTEs in evaluating the credibility of ‘Monitoring\, Reporting and Verification (MRV)’ claims and policy
