SUMMARY:Summer School 2026: Plant single cell RNAseq workshop: From current technologies to data analyses
DESCRIPTION:This Summer school is organized by the Saclay Plant Sciences (SPS) network\, one of the largest European plant sciences communities. \nscRNAseq approaches have revolutionized the way biologists approach their research subjects\, by making it possible to dissect molecular mechanisms at the single-cell level. But although technological developments have recently made these approaches more accessible\, their expensive use still requires significant technical training\, including the good conception of experimental designs\, the preparation of samples as well as their bioinformatics analyses. In addition\, different protocols and various bioinformatics and statistical analyzes are available\, and it can be difficult to choose the most relevant ones for the biological question at hand. \nOver five days\, the SPS Summer School 2026 will cover all the stages of a scRNAseq project in plants. Through a combination of lectures and practical work\, the many specific features of plant models will be highlighted by experts from the Saclay Plant Sciences network (CNRS and INRAE)\, the ViB in Ghent and the Pasteur Institute. \nAfter this international school\, participants will:\n–    Have an overview of the different scRNAseq technologies and understand their pros and cons.\n–    Be able to design experiments depending on the biological question.\n–    Be trained on sample preparation techniques for single cell and single nuclei\n–    Understand the different steps of bioinformatics and statistical analysis\n–    Have a better biological interpretation of results\n–    Have facilitated exchanges with technology platforms\, bioinformaticians\, and biostatisticians in order to successfully complete their scRNAseq project \nThe summer school will bring together outstanding and enthusiastic young scientists (PhD students and post-docs) from all over the world in order to exchange knowledge and ideas. It is limited to a small group of participants (20 maximum) to privilege informal interactions and scientific discussions. \nTo register: https://eng-saclay-plant-sciences.hub.inrae.fr/teaching-and-training/summer-schools/summer-school-2026

SUMMARY:International Conference on Photosynthesis Research 2026 (ICPR26)
DESCRIPTION:VISIT EVENT WEBSITE\nThe study of photosynthesis has attracted the attention of successive legions of biologists\, biochemists\, chemists and physicists for over 200 years. Never in the history of photosynthesis research\, however\, has progress in our understanding of photosynthetic mechanisms\, regulation and improvement been made as rapidly as it has over the past 5 years. Nature makes photosynthesis look easy\, but the construction of artificial photosynthetic systems remains challenging. Substantial efforts to improve the efficiency and productivity of photosynthesis have the potential to increase crop yields without further increasing fertilizer and water use. \nMoreover\, tailoring photosynthesis to meet the needs of nature-based solutions to climate change and to the sustainability of food production remain global challenges that have to be addressed by the photosynthesis community. This meeting will galvanise participants from academia and industry to translate this new mechanistic understanding of photosynthetic function into improved crop production and more efficient terrestrial carbon sinks. \n\nSchedule highlights\nTwo Keynote Speakers \nTwelve Plenary Speakers \nTwenty-seven Concurrent Sessions \nTwo poster sessions \nOpening reception \nConference dinner at Liverpool Cathedral (optional)
