SUMMARY:International Advances in Plant Virology 2025
DESCRIPTION:Plant viruses cause global and regional economic and societal losses\, being responsible for a significant proportion of devastating emergent and re-emergent plant diseases. \nThe AAB ‘International Advances in Plant Virology (IAPV)’ conference has a broad remit where we invite participation from scientists who are interested in all aspects of plant virology. These research areas might be on the molecular mechanisms of plant-virus interactions; the applied consequences of plant virus infection; evolutionary and ecological aspects of plant viruses and exploring how plant viruses can be utilised in biotechnology. \nWe are very excited that IAPV25 will be organised in collaboration with the VIRTIGATION project and the Euphresco project (Continued) Community Network for practices in Plant Virology (VIRNET2). \nIntroducing VIRTIGATION: Tomatoes and cucurbits (i.e. cucumber\, melon\, pumpkin\, zucchini and  gourds) are among the most produced fruits and vegetables in the world\,  but are increasingly under threat by emerging viral diseases caused by  begomoviruses (whitefly-transmitted) and tobamoviruses (mechanically  transmitted). To date\, there are only limited bio-based remedies on the  market to tackle the devastation caused by these plant diseases. \nIntroducing VIRNET2: The Community Network for Practices in Plant Virology (VIRNET)  project and its continuation under VIRNET2\, aims to encourage knowledge  exchange and collaboration among plant virology researchers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOver the past decade AAB have organised IAPV conferences that will bring together plant virologists from across Europe and beyond. To highlight the excellence of this meeting we are happy to share the abstract book from IAPV22 in Slovenia.
